Participatory art for navigating political capabilities and aspirations among rural youth in Zimbabwe

While exploring the everyday experiences of Tonga youth, this paper draws on a participatory graffiti-on-board project in Binga, rural community Zimbabwe. Focus is placed what shapes and drives youth aspirations precarious contexts marked by unemployment poverty. Using graffiti to create artistic engagements, research aims stretch limited boundaries social political space available for discussing issues that concern their development pathways livelihoods. The article presents narratives impact youths’ aspirations, endeavouring where they can visualise prospective futures.
